One year ago today ....

It's a perfect fit for embrace the camera to be about our precious Jonas because one year ago today we were hopping on a plane and traveling across the ocean to a country we had never been to get our son. I wrote all about our journey here check it out .. Day 1&2 was in Dubai.

FYI these pictures were taken by a 4year old :)

I remember the nerves and excitement as it was yesterday. It's really hard to even put them into words as it's a feeling I had never really had before.. a lot of it was totally surrendering in the Lord and trusting his plan was the best for us. Leaving the twins was hard, going to a new country was exciting but scary too, but the joy that ran through my blood knowing I was going to get to hold my son for the very 1st time was what out weighted the most. My mind could finally stop racing with the adoption roller coaster ride of emotion and there was peace knowing that the day had finally come to get on that plane..and know we were bringing home such a blessing. It still brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.. little did we realize how much our trip to Ethiopia would change us.

It's pretty funny how God works, as we have friends of ours that live in our neighborhood that today are in Ethiopia picking up their son. We have walked with them throughout their journey and I can't wait for them to bring home their blessing as he is only 7 months older than Jonas. What a miracle to have such great friends going through this journey and for Jonas to have a forever friend from the same birth place! Only God can orchestrate such a beautiful gift! I have been reading about their trip on their blog and boy it brings back so many memories. I can't wait to greet them at the airport.
Stay tuned for more pictures to come to celebrate this weeks remembrance of our son coming home to his forever family one year ago.
