Our Niece

Last weekend we celebrated our sweet niece 1st birthday!
I can be totally cliche and say where has the time gone... as I always say but I think I have finally come to terms  as we get older and more kids we have the time speeds up weather we like it or not.
I looked back on my post on Ansley being born and really it feels like just yesterday.
We had a nice weekend away hanging with our cousins at the beach.
Kate's first time in the pool... just like all the others I think she's going to love the water.
Brooke was so excited to get her in the water....it was the like the night before Christmas excited!
Yes, I think Brooke sometimes thinks Kate is her baby telling me to be careful, always watching over her.
Ansley and Kate greeting each other with a gentle face rub in the water.
With only being 3 months apart I think they are going to be close.
Happy birthday sweet girl!
One year down and many more to look forward too..
hopefully the time will slow down eventually ... right??

Packing

Let the packing begin!
If there is one thing I hate besides raking leaves it's packing.
I am that person that waits the very last minute to pack for a trip like the hour before.
But we are moving, this time next week we will be in a rental so it's time we get busy filling boxes.
It's such a blessing to have this rental as I went last week to visit a 1300 sq foot apartment thinking there is no way with 4 kids this could work but really was our only option...
until the next morning our friends told us we could rent their rental!!
Yay and even better they told us we can do month to month until we found our next home. WOW!
What an answered prayer to have a home to move too plus month to month couldn't have dreamed of that!
It's another season in life of trusting God, he's going to put us right where he wants us..
figuring out every detail along the way.
We are still searching for our next house but staying here locally.
We needed a little more space but most importantly we need a yard.
I think the housing market is slowly making it's turn around here in Fl. as we haven't been able to find a home yet. We are sitting tight to find the right place hoping to get a deal, again God is in charge of that...
 just trusting in him.
So this years spring break 2012 is spent mostly packing ..yuck!
but I think it will be worth the work!

In Training

Guess who is in potty training boot camp?
What a welcome home for daddy! He was dying laughing!
Our J-man is ready for the potty actually has been for a few months but this mama has been putting it off as long as possible. Within a few days of nakedness, some candy for reinforcements,  he's got the hang of it and he's wearing pull ups to school.  He's by far been the easiest to train.
Next week is spring break, so watch out if you come to the door you might have a naked one answer.
Hopefully by next week and he'll be wearing big boy underoos!
I'll keep you posted, wish me luck
I do think this is a greeting that daddy won't forget

3rd Annual ....

Daddy Daughter Dance
1st year
2nd year

This year

I can not tell you how much Brooke looks forward to this every year.
Months before hand she is asking "when is the daddy daughter dance?"
She is a romantic at heart and loves every part of dressing up including keeping her dress a secret until she walks down the stairs. She gets ready like a teenagers wanting to curl her hair, paint her toe nails, put on mama's lip gloss.. if we did it the year before she remembers and wants it again. This year I surprised her with a gold locket and purse. She had said she wanted the purse a month before, she was so shocked and appreciated it so much... melted my heart for her to be so thankful!
By the end of the night she enjoyed it so much opening the locket so many times that it doesn't close now:)
After this night she has a renewed crush on daddy, a bond shared in something that is just between them.
A special night with the man in her life that loves her the most, he is someone that cherishes every year as much as she does.  Such a precious moment to cherish for all to see even the boys watching daddy care for his beautiful princess.

The boys saying their goodbyes to their beautiful sister
A snapshot of daddy taking both girls someday...
Kate is going to just love being in this daddy&daughter club!
Look at those eyes you can see who they get their blue eyes from!

Escaped

It seems appropriate to do embrace the camera with my man this week as we just got back from a relaxing few days away. One huge perk with a husband that travels a lot for a living is you sometimes get the opportunities to piggyback on a trip. This was one of those times, he had an event in Puerto Rico and I was able to escape for a few days before to enjoy some sun and relaxation. It had been almost two years since Scott and I had time away for a mini vacation. More than ever did we need it! I cherished every minute and was sad to see each moment quickly going by!  Just to have time to think, feel, and read ... i felt as if I was my own person without the label of mom.
To be just a wife pouring into each other catching up on our busy lives.
I highly recommend it for every couple out there! You start to clearly see why you married the man you did and see the love that flows out as much as it can with 4 kids to balance at home. Don't get me wrong we're not perfect and boy do we have struggles, but were human.
Two complete opposite people trying to just love one another the best we can.
I'm just so thankful for him and our marriage!

In the town Old San Juan
Hiking through the Rain Forrest
We hiked to the very top of the mountain where we were walking in the clouds
Seeing the many beautiful waterfalls
Out to dinner having a traditional Puerto Rican Meal
It was great to escape the hectic life we live and step back to see the many blessings we have in our life. It's really amazing how God has carried us through so much together . While I was away I also could drown myself into a book. Which I'm one of those people that once I start one I get obsessed to finish it.  This book was one, I just couldn't put down as I hung on each word feeling the veil being lifted to see God and how he has overflowed my cup! It helped me to see the beauty in the small things, to slow down enjoying the beautiful God moments we have everyday. But most of all living a life of gratitude is something I want more than anything! If I died tomorrow, I would want people to know me as thankful!
While it's a slow transformation to turn the complaints into pure thankfulness for the abundance we live in everyday.
It's a process I want to try to do more of!
So, lets take time out in the day to take a deep breath in and be thankful for that breath we just took!
I know one thing I was thankful for this escape away, what a beautiful gift it was!

Fond Blanc, Haiti

In 5 short weeks our small group has been able to find almost all 42 children sponsored families which give me goose bumps to see how God has been moving to provide for these children! We only have 4 children left that need a family.  Our group leader Audrey wrote this wonderful post I just had to share... read below and also please check our the blog to follow along in this journey with us!

All Four One

Posted on

Most of us know The Lord’s Prayer by heart and can recite it without giving it much thought.  But as I sat down to write this post, I couldn’t help but repeat it over and over in my head and hear a new emphasis on a few of the words.
Our Father“:  We, too, are orphans but have graciously and lovingly been adopted by God.  He loves us more than any earthly father could which I admit was a hard concept to grasp until I became a parent myself.  Until then I had never fully understood the depth and intensity of the love a parent has for a child. To know He feels that way about us–times infinity–is still a little unfathomable.
“Your will be done”: We are not meant to be spectators; we are meant to be doers. This may mean taking risks, making sacrifices, and experiencing discomfort.  I realize that’s not exactly the best motivational speech.  And for someone who has an agenda for almost everything (I even had one for my husband’s and my Date Night last week– there were just too many things to discuss that we hadn’t had time for lately!), it can be very difficult to put my agenda aside and trust that God’s plan be fulfilled, not my own.  More often than not His looks nothing like mine–and that is a good thing.
“On earth”: Even as Christians, it can be a struggle to know our purpose in life or discern God’s will for us.  But all details aside, in the biggest sense of the picture, God made us to be Him on this earth.  That means loving, forgiving, caring, healing, supporting, encouraging, lifting up and going out.  Obviously, we can’t be Him. We’re flawed. We’re (very) imperfect.  We’re human.  But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t even try.
It’s been almost six weeks since our first team returned from Haiti and only five since we started sharing with you about the children of Fond Blanc.  The adventure has just begun yet already so many of you have committed to caring for them, sponsoring them and “adopting” them into your families.  God’s will IS being done, on earth, in Haiti, in our lives and yours.
We have four sweet kids left that still need sponsors–two boys and two girls.  They are tweens and young teenagers.  For all of us who remember what that stage of life was like, if we haven’t blocked it out of our memory, then you’ll remember the importance of positive and encouraging relationships especially with those of adults.
The relationships you build with your sponsored child(ren) will mean more to them than you will ever know.  Yes, food is critical.  Shelter is a necessity.  Safety is, without question, a must.  But these young men and women need more than that.  They need words of encouragement, hope, LOVE. They need to know there are people out there that care about them, that God loves them, that we love them, and that no matter what we will not let them fall.

Diets

I don't know one thing about diets as I have never been on one before.  I know some of you are thinking "really then why are you going to talk about one?" Well, I just finished up this great one that I just had to share. I don't even like to call it a diet because really it's more about training yourself to eat healthy.
Which I needed to do!
I had that last lovely 10 pounds of baby fat or muffin top I just couldn't get off. This diet actually targets the belly fat!  After seeing a few family members doing it thinking I could do that, I went out to buy the book (at target). It teaches you about the healthy food to help jump start your metabolism. Within the first 17 days I lost 9 pounds and jumped back into my old clothes again, and finally I had a load of energy because of eating so many vegetables.  I would recommend it to anyone, but you have to love veggies, fruits, proteins, and whole grains. If your not a healthy eater than this diet is not for you. It's not just 17 days don't let it fool you .. it's 4 rounds of  17 days to get to your goal. Just thought I would share in case you just can never shed off those pounds you have dreamed of. I have at least 5 friends/family that have lost more than 10 pounds just in the 1st 17days. Plus I know now how to finally eat healthy which I think is more important than anything!

We were at the adoption retreat, how it really feels like much longer as the refreshing things I have learned seemed to have escaped my mind as we get consumed with daily demands for our household. That's why I write this as I read over my notes praying for them to stick and engrave into my heart. I don't know about you but if I write/type it, it's seems to stick longer.
First night at the retreat we learned that
You are perfume
You are a mirror
Your a treasure
We are the perfume and mirror for our children the fragrance of what our children will smell.  How does our fragrance smell? If your normal I'm sure you're like me and it will smell sour sometimes.
What do we need to do to be refreshed smelling of sweet incense again?
We need to dive deep into prayer and the word.
So our fragrance is of God's being a wonderful mirror of what God looks like through us to our children.
Just as we see our children as a treasure we need to see ourselves as one too.
Which I admit is hard for me grasp, I can honestly say this weekend retreat was so uplifting feeling God tell me that I'm his treasure. oh what a feeling it feels to be loved so much by the one who created me ...
hopefully in return I can share that same uplifting love to my children letting them know what a wonderful treasure they are, one of a kind!

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.. Proverbs 23:7
You can ask most of my friends that I'm concerned on how to teach my children about the gospel...constantly thinking I need to get the right study books, or read the right kid bibles.Without growing up in a christian home I worry as I'm not sure how to teach them about God.
I don't want to force it but I want them to be surrounded by it... I think it takes a healthy balance.
After this weekend, I realized more than anything we teach them by our actions and our words...
as we are our children's examples.
Let us be the example of what being a disciples looks like and with God help they will follow in our footsteps.
