The Plan

This is the homestretch of 2009, with only a few weeks left I have been spending some time reflecting. It sure has been an amazing year, from where we were last year we have been through another transformation. This time last year we were starting the in vitro process to now waiting for a referral from Ethiopia. God is just so Good! God had a different plan for us just like He had a different plan for Mary and Joseph. Their plan was interrupted by the virgin Mary getting pregnant. They had no idea what was going to happen to them. To their shock, what do you think they felt? This plan for Mary and Joseph didn't look normal, they would look different, people would talk and spread rumors. I look at Mary and Joseph as a inspiration to us. They were willing to except the path and open themselves up to let God come to do His good works. Can you imagine if they didn't take the path God choose for them? Even though it can be scary to walk in total faithfulness, it should be our priority to take a leap to do the next right thing. Joseph was committed more to God than his own plan. He was willing to take a leap and support Mary and to adopt and love Jesus as his own.

As I do have normal fears that come over me, I know we are walking a path of faithfulness. Through this last year we have grown stronger in our faith and love. I just feel so blessed... this plan is nothing I imagined... it's even better then I dreamed. I'm so thankful we were willing to open our hearts and minds to where God is leading us. The details can overwhelm all of us if we let them. Let go and hand over your control to the Lord. This season has a lot going on, let's not get caught up in our own plan. Be open and let God interrupted your life... you will be surprised with what he has in store for you.

The Annual Company Christmas Party

It is that time of year for the Company Christmas party. To be truthful not my favorite thing to do, but I know how much it means to Scott. It's the one time of year he gets to socialize with the people he works with. This year we decided to go on our own as we normally go with another couple. We stopped by The Samba Room to have a drink before we headed to the party. My first time having a mojito. It was raspberry favor and boy are they good.
Of course Scott wouldn't let me take the camera into the party to take more pictures:) I met a few new faces and wound up having a great time.

It's begining to look alot like Christmas

Christmas season this year has been so much fun so far. Brooke and Parker are 3 years old and they really understand now what Christmas is all about. You ask them who's birthday it is and they say Jesus. We told them that three wise men came and gave three gifts, so we are doing the same thing only three gifts each is our new tradition we are starting this year. We got a tree from Target our favorite place to get one, then got home and got the loads of boxes of decorations out from the garage. The kids really enjoyed putting the ornaments on the tree. Brooke would grasp at every one that had glitter and shined. She really liked the angel one you see in the picture. Parker got stuck on putting the airplane ornament up... he was easily distracted.
Isn't Parker's Charlie Brown shirt pretty funny? I didn't even realize that until I went back and look at the pictures ..it was prefect for the occasion.

Scott put the star on top of the tree and the house is officially decorated for Christmas. I love all the lights at night..it melts my heart every time I look at the tree while watching TV. I just stop for a moment in pure warmth with God's presence all around me and thank him for my blessings. Oh boy, do I love this season and I love what it means.

Trying to be crafty

So, of course .... it seems natural that if you are adopting from Africa you have to make some t-shirts. Everyone else has done one so I thought we would try. My crafty sister was in town for Thanksgiving. We headed to the local fabric store and found designs. After cutting it out and pinning it we were lost on what to do. We tried our best at sewing that was harder than I thought. I had made Brooke some dresses but how do you get the sewing machine around the shirt not so easy. The shirt I have on was done by mistake we had the foot up on the machine and it made this great big stitch which didn't look so bad until my sister sewed the front and back together. haha But don't worry we unstitched it. The shirt only has a few holes but hey that give it character right? My mother in law sewed the rest of them for us and did a much better job:)
The purple shirt is for Brooke it matches mine. We did a few other patterns and I think they turned out cute. I wish I could sell them but I think I need some more practice sewing first.
